Hodgepodge of Stuff

So it’s been quite awhile since I’ve written one of these up!

To all 3 of my readers, I’d like to wish you all a very happy, safe & prosperous 2014! Where to start…where to start?

First off, I’m a father now! Ethan came into the world on November 7, 2013…about a week after my last posting, so to say my life has been busy would be an incredible understatement. Everyone is fine & Ethan is now 2 months old as of yesterday, January 7th. He’s growing so quickly as he was quite a big boy from the start, weighing in at 9 pounds, 3 ounces. TNA Wrestling / WWE Comparisons & Thoughts

So I was watching TNA Impact the other night and realized that when comparing the two companies, lately I’ve been noticing that I’ve been enjoying TNA much more than Raw. The first & I believe, the most obvious reason for this is their roster. They just have talent that in my opinion are allowed to be what they want to be and portray themselves as they would like to be portrayed. I think these guys probably have a lot more say in their characters than most guys do in WWE, where they’re given a direction, look, lines & the whole nine yards and aren’t allowed to stray from what has been written for them.

Also, in the case of a number of WWE talents that when they got themselves over either by accident or on purpose, “creative” decides that because that’s not where they had envisioned this talent that they won’t just go with it like they have in the past (see: Steve Austin). Take a guy like Zack Ryder as an example… Continue reading “TNA Wrestling / WWE Comparisons & Thoughts”

Monday Night Raw Thoughts

Where to start, where to start indeed. Let me just say one thing before I start with this quick thoughts on this show, and that’s this…I don’t know if I feel stupider for watching this or smarter because everyone on & involved in writing this show aside from maybe Cody Rhodes is a complete dufus, so maybe I feel smarter than the rest of them?!?

So I’m really just gonna touch on the main storyline here involving the McMahon-Helmsley regime, their corporate champion, their enforcers, Daniel Bryan & the rest of the WWE roster.  First up is of course, Continue reading “Monday Night Raw Thoughts”

WWE Summer Slam Thoughts

So WWE had their annual summer pay per view last night in LA. I watched the show from my local Buffalo Wild Wings in Rockaway. I did have to work last night, so it was after 8:30 by the time I got to BWW. Unfortunately, I missed the Bray Wyatt vs. Kane Inferno Match…from what I read, it sounded like it went prettymuch how I expected it to. Rowan & Harper finally made their way into the ring once they figured a way around the flames. And apparently they dragged a beaten Kane off to apparently be brainwashed to join the Wyatt Family.

I’m not gonna give a match by match recap or even thoughts on every match, rather just comment on what I really want to comment on. So with that in mind… Continue reading “WWE Summer Slam Thoughts”

Royal Rumble 2004 Fallout

Well, it’s been one hell of a long time since I’ve gotten up the energy to do up one of these, but considering it’s the Rumble & everything that just happened tonite (yes, I’m writing this at 1am, so technically it IS the 26th, that and I just didn’t want to have two columns from the same date) I’m kinda fired up to see what happens on RAW tonite & SmackDown on Thursday nite.

First, big cheers for the WWE for finally giving SOMETHING to Chris Benoit. Though I’m not the biggest fan of the guy, his ring work is damn solid. So I guess it was just finally his time to be the guy to win the damn thing. He did something that only 2 other men in WWF history have ever done… Continue reading “Royal Rumble 2004 Fallout”

Judgment Day 2002 Fallout

The headlines all around the wrestling sites is the untimely death of the British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith. To say I was a fan of his in the mid 90s is an understatement. He was such an accomplished wrestler & I’m going to truly miss him. I do have for you a remberence page up for the British Bulldog, which can be reached by clicking here.

Ok, now that we have Judgment Day 2002 out of the way, maybe we can get on to some decent shows….but that’s not very likely. It might be interesting to see if Continue reading “Judgment Day 2002 Fallout”

Royal Rumble 2002 Fallout

Well, now that the 2002 Royal Rumble is behind us, let’s take a look at where we stand…

Triple H is the winner of this year’s Royal Rumble & appears to be headed to the main event at WrestleMania, which kinda leaves the question still unanswered as to what Stone Cold Steve Austin will be doing for WrestleMania. HHH is quickly on his way to a fifth Federation Championship and with Jericho retaining the coveted title, I’m sure we’re in for a fun ride to WrestleMania.

Other bits of interest regarding the Rumble match itself, it seems that both Continue reading “Royal Rumble 2002 Fallout”

WrestleMania XII Retrospective

Ok, well here I am with my WrestleMania XII recap, for those who haven’t seen this show. BTW, I also did a WrestleMania X recap just the other day, so if you missed that, it’s right here. Well, on to the WrestleMania XII recap. Also, in case you’re curious, I’m doing this cuz I feel WrestleMania Sunday is as much a holiday as Superbowl Sunday. So on that note….on with the PPV.

This one’s live, on tape from the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California on March 31, 1996. Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jerry “The King” Lawler. Continue reading “WrestleMania XII Retrospective”
