Life and stuff

So the other night I had to stop on my way home from work to pick up dinner for Erin and myself at the bar down the street from our home. So naturally, I had to wait for it to be ready and had a couple of beers while I waited. Funny things happen when you’re given time to sit & think about stuff between continuing on your way with your hectic life. You start to realize things that have changed around you and how you’ve just kind of “rolled with the punches” through it all & haven’t really taken a lot of it in and haven’t had the time to truly appreciate everything.

Just as Matthew Broderick states as Ferris Bueller in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” — “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

So while I sat there, I started to stop & look around a bit and kind of started to reflect on my life and how much it has changed over the last 5 years. And wow I’m talking drastic changes! 5 years ago, I was:

  • 30 years old
  • working as a mortgage loan processor for Financial Resources in Morganville, NJ
  • living in South Bound Brook
  • just started dating Bonnie

Now I’m 35, married with a beautiful wife, a newborn son, am a homeowner and work in New York City as a Box Office Treasurer at Lincoln Center. I’m sure those aren’t the only changes, but they’re definitely the major ones.

It’s kind of daunting when you think about it like that. I’m one who has never really done well with a lot of change, but over the course of the last few years with Erin, I’ve been taking this wild ride at what seems like 90 miles per hour & am enjoying just about every minute of it. Sure there have been ups & downs, but the downs have been few & far between as I remember back through it all and what Erin has brought to my life is something that I can’t even to begin to thank her enough for. Granted, I was an equal player in everything that has happened in that time…but this is a lot of stuff that I definitely couldn’t have done all on my own. So I’d like to send a very heartfelt thank you to all those who have played a big part in getting me to where I am today. Because God knows I’ve needed a LOT of help along the way!

That’s my story & I’m sticking to it!
