So there’s something that has recently happened that has nothing to do with professional wrestling or sports that has profoundly affected me that I feel that I need to write about.
So today is Erin & my 5th wedding anniversary and while I was getting the boys all ready this morning, all these memories of that day came flowing back through my mind. Five years ago, I did not have this blog site and used to just write little journal posts on my home computer in Word and saved them to read again in the future. Well, it’s 2017 now and I have this blog site, so I thought I’d share my experiences from that day with all of you, my adoring public! So if you typically come here for my wrestling insights, please be warned that none of that will be talked about here in this post. This will simply be a remembrance of what I consider to be the best day of my life. A lot of people will say that the day their kids were born were the best days of their lives, but to me, Ethan, Owen & Liam’s births doesn’t come about without this day happening first — so first things first, let’s remember back to September 29th, 2012…
For those of you who have known me for a good length of time, I’ve had a number of websites I’ve created and maintained over the years. The one that I had maintained probably for the longest period of time (aside from this one) would be b-d-p.net. I recently came across a lot of the content from that old site and decided to bring it back to life by posting it here. It can all be found under the category “B-D-P.net Archive” listed just to the right here. It’s all stuff I wrote between 2001-2004 (so far). I’ll continue to add more stuff as I find it.
Be warned, my perspectives from those days was quite a bit different than they are now. For example, I found a set of pay per view predictions where I called Jacqueline a waste of roster space and William Regal was not deserving of the Intercontinental Title. Clearly, not opinions I still have to this day, but I figure for what it’s worth…if you want a good laugh, go check out that stuff!
Thanks for reading!
So a couple of weeks ago on the Marking Out w/Marc & Dee Podcast, I tasked myself with writing up a blog explaining the origins of this show I’ve created and writing about my aspirations and goals for it. So without any further adieu, away we go…
As I told my cousin at this past December’s Kick Christmas Party, I’m gonna let ya in on a little secret that not a lot of people know about me, and that’s the fact that I’m a really big wrestling fan. I know, I know…HUGE shocking news, right? All kidding aside, I’m approaching 25 years in my wrestling fandom.
My Wrestling Fandom
I first started watching wrestling as a kid on Sunday mornings after coming home from church. I’d usually find
So this thing is starting to take off a little! So I’m gonna tell ya the story of how this all came to be…
This story doesn’t start recently, I’ve been a PWInsider Elite member (paying subscriber to the website) for like 9 years now. And for those who don’t know what that entails, basically Dave Scherer and his crew of wrestling reporters (at the time, it was Mike Johnson and Buck Woodward along with Richard Trionfo and Jess McGrath had just left the site) write about all the ongoings in the professional wrestling world. They have sources backstage that like to share with them what’s going on for a number of various reasons. Dave has two sites running…the first is the free site, with all the news stories along with ads galore all over the page and a few pop up ads.
So it has finally made its way to me, and now numerous people are telling me to “get on it”. For all of you who are looking for a video of me dumping a bucket of ice water on my head, you’re not going to get it….and I’m writing this blog to explain why:
So the other night I had to stop on my way home from work to pick up dinner for Erin and myself at the bar down the street from our home. So naturally, I had to wait for it to be ready and had a couple of beers while I waited. Funny things happen when you’re given time to sit & think about stuff between continuing on your way with your hectic life. You start to realize things that have changed around you and how you’ve just kind of “rolled with the punches” through it all & haven’t really taken a lot of it in and haven’t had the time to truly appreciate everything.
Just as Matthew Broderick states as Ferris Bueller in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” —
So it’s been quite awhile since I’ve written one of these up!
To all 3 of my readers, I’d like to wish you all a very happy, safe & prosperous 2014! Where to start…where to start?
First off, I’m a father now! Ethan came into the world on November 7, 2013…about a week after my last posting, so to say my life has been busy would be an incredible understatement. Everyone is fine & Ethan is now 2 months old as of yesterday, January 7th. He’s growing so quickly as he was quite a big boy from the start, weighing in at 9 pounds, 3 ounces.
Original writing dated 8/16/13: So since meeting my wife, getting married & now with the baby on the way, my life has been changing in just about every way shape & form over the course of the last few years. Gone are the days of sitting around, vegging on the couch, watching hours on top of hours of tv, movies & the like all while ordering food in & snacking on junk food. So obviously after that last statement, you can see that my habits weren’t exactly very good ones. The truth is, I kind of had the mindset that I’d never be where I am right now — being married, baby on the way & all. I kinda just figured that wouldn’t happen for me. So I basically said “fuck it, I’ll live my life & have fun doing it”…and that meant not working out, not exercising in any way, eating whatever I wanted & enjoying every bite.
Well I can’t do that anymore. Since moving in with my wife,
So just to give a little background as to why & how this site came about…
First & foremost, let me tell ya a little about myself. I, like most people am a fan of what I feel to be quite an eclectic grouping of things. First off, I’m a big professional wrestling fan and like to give my opinions and report on the current goings on in the world of professional wrestling. So much so that I have a facebook group where I sort of do just that and everyone shares their own stuff as well.
I’m also a big professional sports fan, being a diehard New York Yankees & New York Jets fan as well as a big fan of the New Jersey Devils. Each year, I will sometimes post my thoughts on the season, how things went…whether it should be considered a success, etc. I also have played & ran my own fantasy football league for the last 5 years now.
On top of all that, I’m also a Trekkie…I love going to the conventions, getting pictures with the stars & just immersing myself in all things Star Trek for a weekend each year. I’m not opposed to going to these things alone as I’ll always find someone to befriend just about anywhere I go.
I recently got married just over 10 months ago and now have a baby boy on the way coming in November of this year. I work in New York City at Lincoln Center in the box office of the David H. Koch Theater & see some quite interesting people each day. So with all that going on, I definitely have a lot to say about a variety of topics.
So back to my love of professional wrestling…I subscribe to a site called PWInsider.com and one of their columnists has recently started up his own blog called “Tech For Everybody”, a really cool read if you’re just wondering about random things & how they work or why something is the way it is. Anyway…it occurred to me that while I’ve been posting really long thoughts columns to my wrestling facebook group that I really don’t like the way they’re displayed at all on there. So I thought how cool it would be to start a blog & then share the posts to the facebook group so that I’m a bit more organized with how it’s displayed. So voila…MarcsTwoCents.com is born!
