A New Endeavor

So I’m sure if you follow this site, you may have noticed a lack of new content over the last month or so, and there’s a good reason for that.

About a month ago, I decided to try to branch out and see what else might be out there from a writing standpoint. So I headed over to FanSided.com to see how the writers for that site got to do what they do & ostensibly get paid to do so. After looking around on the site for a bit, I found a link to apply to become a contributor, so naturally, I clicked it.

Podcasts…A Beginner’s Guide

So I was driving into work this morning, listening to podcasts and came up with another topic I needed to write about…as you can see from the title of this entry, I want to share some info about podcasts. I know not everyone listens to podcasts, so I’m here to help explain what they are, where to find them, how to subscribe to them, how to listen to them & which ones I deem a good listen. So let’s get started, shall we?

I. What is a podcast?

A podcast is like talk radio, except for it’s not actually on the “air waves” anywhere. The person(s) recording will sit down to record on their own and upload the recordings to the internet for distribution to various places to be downloaded by listeners like iTunes, Google Podcasts & other like distribution sites. If they’ve built up a decent listener base, they can take their podcast to various advertisers to line up deals with them in order to make money off of their show. A lot of podcasters tend to record more for the love of getting their voice out there to be heard more so than actually making income from the shows recorded.

Wedding Day Memories 5 years later

So today is Erin & my 5th wedding anniversary and while I was getting the boys all ready this morning, all these memories of that day came flowing back through my mind. Five years ago, I did not have this blog site and used to just write little journal posts on my home computer in Word and saved them to read again in the future. Well, it’s 2017 now and I have this blog site, so I thought I’d share my experiences from that day with all of you, my adoring public! So if you typically come here for my wrestling insights, please be warned that none of that will be talked about here in this post. This will simply be a remembrance of what I consider to be the best day of my life. A lot of people will say that the day their kids were born were the best days of their lives, but to me, Ethan, Owen & Liam’s births doesn’t come about without this day happening first — so first things first, let’s remember back to September 29th, 2012… Continue reading “Wedding Day Memories 5 years later”

“New” (Old) Content Added

For those of you who have known me for a good length of time, I’ve had a number of websites I’ve created and maintained over the years. The one that I had maintained probably for the longest period of time (aside from this one) would be b-d-p.net. I recently came across a lot of the content from that old site and decided to bring it back to life by posting it here. It can all be found under the category “B-D-P.net Archive” listed just to the right here. It’s all stuff I wrote between 2001-2004 (so far). I’ll continue to add more stuff as I find it.

Be warned, my perspectives from those days was quite a bit different than they are now. For example, I found a set of pay per view predictions where I called Jacqueline a waste of roster space and William Regal was not deserving of the Intercontinental Title. Clearly, not opinions I still have to this day, but I figure for what it’s worth…if you want a good laugh, go check out that stuff!

The Podcast, how it came to be and where we stand almost 6 months later

So a couple of weeks ago on the Marking Out w/Marc & Dee Podcast, I tasked myself with writing up a blog explaining the origins of this show I’ve created and writing about my aspirations and goals for it. So without any further adieu, away we go…

As I told my cousin at this past December’s Kick Christmas Party, I’m gonna let ya in on a little secret that not a lot of people know about me, and that’s the fact that I’m a really big wrestling fan. I know, I know…HUGE shocking news, right? All kidding aside, I’m approaching 25 years in my wrestling fandom.

My Wrestling Fandom

I first started watching wrestling as a kid on Sunday mornings after coming home from church. I’d usually find Continue reading “The Podcast, how it came to be and where we stand almost 6 months later”

Stuff pertaining to the podcast

So this thing is starting to take off a little! So I’m gonna tell ya the story of how this all came to be…

This story doesn’t start recently, I’ve been a PWInsider Elite member (paying subscriber to the website) for like 9 years now. And for those who don’t know what that entails, basically Dave Scherer and his crew of wrestling reporters (at the time, it was Mike Johnson and Buck Woodward along with Richard Trionfo and Jess McGrath had just left the site) write about all the ongoings in the professional wrestling world. They have sources backstage that like to share with them what’s going on for a number of various reasons. Dave has two sites running…the first is the free site, with all the news stories along with ads galore all over the page and a few pop up ads. Continue reading “Stuff pertaining to the podcast”

Life and stuff

So the other night I had to stop on my way home from work to pick up dinner for Erin and myself at the bar down the street from our home. So naturally, I had to wait for it to be ready and had a couple of beers while I waited. Funny things happen when you’re given time to sit & think about stuff between continuing on your way with your hectic life. You start to realize things that have changed around you and how you’ve just kind of “rolled with the punches” through it all & haven’t really taken a lot of it in and haven’t had the time to truly appreciate everything.

Just as Matthew Broderick states as Ferris Bueller in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” — Continue reading “Life and stuff”

Hodgepodge of Stuff

So it’s been quite awhile since I’ve written one of these up!

To all 3 of my readers, I’d like to wish you all a very happy, safe & prosperous 2014! Where to start…where to start?

First off, I’m a father now! Ethan came into the world on November 7, 2013…about a week after my last posting, so to say my life has been busy would be an incredible understatement. Everyone is fine & Ethan is now 2 months old as of yesterday, January 7th. He’s growing so quickly as he was quite a big boy from the start, weighing in at 9 pounds, 3 ounces.
